A COUNTRY CLUB BUILDING
April 2025 Newsletter

Inquiring Minds May
Last month I gave you a peep at the early history of DuPont & Seaford. To continue a bit, DuPont built a 9 hole golf course and country club to accommodate many of their upper echelon staff and family during their time off from work.

As many, if not all, of you know the Nanticoke Senior Center is now enjoying the "Country Club” building & view of the now 18 hole golf course. And yes, if you were a member of the SG&CC, you had to stand in line early to get tickets to dances, fashion shows and various events. (Nothing has changed in 83 years.)

But lets get back to the Senior Center. Do you think the center is just for your enjoyment? Oh no, last month alone, the kitchen staff prepared and served 3,128 meals for our Homebound Meal Program. That is prepping the food, cooking it and then sending them out to the community who are in our Homebound Meal Program. **By the way, the staff really needs volunteer drivers to help deliver the meals. Also with preparing over three thousand out going meals, they prepared 550 meals for us! And I complain to my husband about fixing 6 meals a day.

Thank you to the kitchen staff for what they do. They are amazing! Oh! And along with regular lunches they "gave away”-(Trivia, entertainment, guests) 225 lunches, also 160 meals for our employees.
